Dr. Garcia

Dr. Garcia, M.D.

We invite you to compare Dr. Garcia's credentials to those of any other eyelid plastic surgeon in the country. You'll find that his qualifications are exceptional. You may view Dr. Garcia's full Curriculum Vitae here.

As the son of a physician and a nurse, Dr. George H. Garcia grew up in the Los Feliz district of Los Angeles, and attended Loyola High School, near the downtown area. He completed pre-medical undergraduate studies at Cornell University, in Ithaca, New York, and returned to Los Angeles, in order to attend the UCLA School of Medicine.

After an internship at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Los Angeles, Dr. Garcia completed a residency in ophthalmology at the Jules Stein Eye Institute, UCLA Medical Center. He authored many research articles regarding disorders of the orbit, and this interest led to even more education: a prestigious two-year Fellowship in Orbital and Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. This subspecialty complements the practice of comprehensive ophthalmology, and provides further depth of knowledge in diseases and surgery of the eye and surrounding structures.

Dr. Garcia has always believed that an education is most valuable when it improves the lives of others. The practice of medicine is a privilege, and it requires flexibility and patience. He has been consistently described as considerate, personable, and highly conscientious, and he strongly feels that personality and achievement are of equal importance in determining the true ability of a physician.

Dr. Garcia is the only plastic surgeon in Orange County to have completed a full 3-year residency in ophthalmology, then 2 more years of dedicated eye plastic surgery training, followed by immediate election to the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS). Membership in ASOPRS requires completion of a certified program, an original thesis, and written and oral examinations.

Dr. Garcia is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the Jules Stein Eye Institute/UCLA School of Medicine. Dr. Garcia has spent years training other surgeons in plastic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids. He was also a full-time faculty member at a major teaching hospital in the Midwest. He has won awards for his teaching, and has lectured nationally at oculoplastic surgery conferences. Since 1992, Dr. Garcia has published extensively in medical journals.

"I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have received an exceptional education, and I look forward to providing the finest care possible."
